Top 5: Good Ideas

This is one of my most random boards. Here I've collected anything and everything that will either make my life easier or more interesting. I've got lots pinned, so go check it out.

Disclaimer: I did not come up with these. Everything here is the result of someone else's brilliance. I linked to their respective websites below the photos. If there's a problem, let me know.

1. Putting all your mementos from a trip into a jar. This keeps clutter to a minimum while protecting your souvenirs and displaying them at the same time. What's the point in bringing home awesome stuff if you never get to see it?

2. The William Sonoma simmering.....business. I don't know what to call it. You simmer it on top of your stove, and it smells good. I haven't actually done this, but the internet says good things about it.

3. An awesome way to store/display your scarves. Hang up a towel rod, then tie your scarves to it. I have a bunch of scarves, and would love to do this, if I wasn't worried about adding even more holes to a wall that I down own.

4. Lazy Girl workouts. This girl has a bunch of easy ways to sneak in a little exercise throughout the day. I'm not super great at this, but hey, at least I'm trying. Go check out the other ones {link below the picture}.

5. I've had kind of a hard time decorating our bedroom since we've been married. In our first apartment, that was okay, since it was a studio, and we didn't have a legit bedroom. I'm cutting myself a bit of slack in our current house, because we're super-poor, and can't afford anything nice. That's why this list so so great. Most of them are free, or really cheap, so I feel like I can finally have a nice bedroom. Anyway, here it is.

And there you have it. Some of my favourite good ideas from around the web. If you have any "good ideas", leave them in the comments, I'd love to see!

Top 5: Autumn

So, since it's October, I thought I'd share my favourite pictures from my Pinterest board, Autumn.  Tomorrow, or maybe the next day, I'll share the fall recipes I want to try, and/or the fall fashions I wish I had.

1. Fall Leaves

2. Autumn Brights

3. Cozy Autumn Decor

4. Fall flowers

5.  A scene in Idaho

Top 5: The Reading List

Choosing only five books is going to be hard.  But let it be noted that this is not a summer reading list. This is only the books currently pinned on my Pinterest board. I'll do a reading list a bit later.

1. 1001 Books to Read Before You Die
Is it cheating to start with this one? Really, it's a thousand and one books. I'm interested to see what books make it to the "must read" list; how many are classics vs. how many are modern. Most interesting will be to see how many I've read {my guess is not very many}.

2. The Fountainhead by Ayn Rand
I started reading this two summers ago. But it's such a huge book, it took me all summer, and I still didn't finish it. Although that's probably due to the fact that I wasn't totally invested in it. I'm a fast reader, I swear. Except when a book doesn't hold my interest.

3. Is Everyone Hanging Out Without Me? {And Other Concerns} by Mindy Kaling
I just finished this book last week. I've been dying to read it forever. It was great. I really love Mindy. I identify with her a lot {except for the fact that I'm not Indian, or working at my dream job right now}. Seriously, it's awesome, and I recommend it as a fun summer read.

4. Caps for Sale  by Esphyr Slobodkina
This books was a big part of my childhood; my nana used to read it to me. I love the illustrations and the sneaky monkeys.  Plus, it's just fun and silly.

5.  He's a Stud, She's a Slut, and 49 Other Double Standards Every Woman Should Know by Jessica Valenti
If you know me, this list wouldn't be complete without some kind of feminist reading. I love the idea behind this book - just because we think that men and women are equal, doesn't mean that there's really truly equality between the sexes. The title of this book shows that. I haven't read this yet, but I really really really want to.

**I didn't include hyper links for the source of the pictures, because you're all smart people who can google book titles to find a cover **

Top 5: My Future Home

I titled this board "My Future Home" because they are all ideas that I would love to have now. I'm not saving them for a "dream house" or for "someday". They are for turning houses into homes. But because I lack any kind of budget, they are for the future.

1. A Laundry Space. I love the colour on the walls, the space saving washer/dryer, and a place to store all the laundry things. Plus, that ironing board.

2. Lovely beachy room. I love those colours.

3.  I want to live here. Now, I know the photo has a lot of contrast going on. But I love the turret and the little mini balconies everywhere. Inside I imagine all the little rooms common in Victorian houses.

4. I have wanted one of these in my bedroom for as long as I can remember.

5. A stunning kitchen. I love how open it feels.

Top 5: Projects

Next in my Pinterest series comes pins from my project board. That's the only lead-in I've got.

Oh. Are you working on any projects?

1. Pressed penny charm bracelet. I love these, and I think it would be a great keepsake from all the places we travel to.

2. DIY clutch. The middle one is my most favourite.

{Originally found on joann.com, but the link does no longer exist}

3. Glass marble pendants. Super easy. Bake them, then put them in cold water.

4. Homemade lavender sea salt scrub. I've even started growing my own lavender bush. Plant? Shrub? What is lavender, really?

5. The Beatles cross stitch.  I'll still be working on this When I'm 64

Top 5: Delicious Things

So I just had a brilliant idea. I have so many ideas on Pinterest, and some are so lovely, that I'll share them here. I've got several boards, so I'll pick my top five from each, and maybe someone somewhere will be inspired.

I figured I'd start with the first board I've got: Delicious Things.  Basically, here are the top five recipes I want to try, but haven't yet, for one reason or another.

P.S. Click under each picture to visit the website I found it from.

1. Deep Dark Chocolate Cookies. I look at this about once a week and think "I should make those". But I never do. Maybe someday. They don't look that hard to make.

2.  Homemade Cafe Rio. I love eating there, but can't afford to do it every day. Plus, this way, there would be leftovers of monumental proportions!

3. Roasted Red Pepper Pasta. Looks so delicious, and sounds like fun to make. I just keep forgetting to buy peppers when I go to the store.

4. Chocolate Chip Peanut Butter Pretzel Cookies. I know. It sounds like a lot of ingredients. But for reals, look at how delicious! Also, I think it should be spelled 'pretzle'. Just sayin'.

5.Blackberry Mint Lemonade. I think it looks really pretty and kind of fancy. And I bet it tastes amazing. So that's why it's on the list.

So there you have it, my top five delicious things to try.  Agree with the Top 5? Disagree? Have your own 5 to share?
